In short: your budget belongs to you. We use your information only to run MyCheshbon. We never sell it, never show ads, and the people who run MyCheshbon cannot see your budget, purchases or maaser.
Who we are
MyCheshbon (“we”, “us”) is a budgeting service for families, available at mycheshbonapp.com, by text message and by phone. It is operated by [BUSINESS LEGAL NAME], [CITY, STATE]. Questions about this policy: info@mycheshbonapp.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
Account details: your name, email address, password (stored scrambled, never readable by us), and phone numbers you add for texting or the call-in line.
Your budget: accounts, balances, categories, planned amounts, purchases, notes, maaser, Yom Tov, simcha, tuition and gemach records you enter.
Messages to us: what you write when you contact support or send feedback.
Information from services you connect
Bank connections (optional): if you choose to link a bank, our bank-connection provider sends us your account names, balances and transactions. You sign in on your bank’s own secure page. We never see or store your bank password. MyCheshbon only reads transactions; it cannot move money.
Payments: our payment provider handles your card. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your plan, payment dates and whether a payment succeeded.
Information collected automatically
Basic technical information needed to keep the service secure and working, such as device type, browser, and the date and time you sign in.
If you came from an ad or an invite link, which one, so we know which ads work.
Texts you send to and calls you make to MyCheshbon, so we can answer them.
How we use it
To run MyCheshbon: show your budget, answer your texts and calls, and keep your devices in sync.
To handle your subscription, free trial, referrals and receipts.
To send you messages you asked for (reminders, summaries) and important account notices.
To answer support questions and fix problems.
To keep the service safe and prevent misuse.
To improve MyCheshbon using totals and patterns that don’t identify you.
What we never do
We never sell or rent your information.
We never show ads inside MyCheshbon or use your budget for advertising.
Our team cannot open your budget, purchases or maaser. Support sees only your account and payment details, and only to help you.
Who we share it with
Only the companies we need to run the service, and only what each one needs. They are not allowed to use it for anything else:
Hosting and database (for example, Cloudflare and Supabase)
Payments (for example, Stripe)
Bank connections, if you use them (for example, Plaid)
Text messages and the call-in line (for example, Twilio)
Email delivery (for example, Resend)
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or if MyCheshbon is ever sold or merged (you would be told first, and this policy would still protect your data).
Household sharing
If you invite your spouse or another family member, they can see the shared budget according to the role you give them. You can remove them at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your budget and account data within 30 days, including from backups, except records we must keep by law (for example, payment and tax records).
Your choices and rights
See and download: download a copy of your budget at any time from Settings, or ask us for a copy of all your data.
Correct: change your details in Settings, or ask us.
Delete: delete your account from Settings, or email us. We answer every request within 30 days.
Messages: turn reminders and summaries on or off in Settings. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts.
Bank connections: disconnect a bank at any time.
Security
Your connection to MyCheshbon is encrypted, your data is stored encrypted, and backups are made every night. Only your phone numbers can use the call-in line, with an optional PIN. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you promptly.
Children
MyCheshbon accounts are for adults 18 and over. A parent may give a child limited access to a household budget; we don’t knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll email you and show a notice in the app before they take effect.
